Augusta, Missouri

After a long week of visiting friends and working in St. Louis, an escape to Missouri wine country seemed like an excellent idea.  We booked a night at the Lindenhoff Bed & Breakfast, and headed out west.

The owners of the Lindenhoff are a lovely couple.  While chatting with them over a delicious breakfast, they revealed that they were in the midst of working on a new website and looking for some help.  Two hours later, and John had set up a WordPress website for them, I had photographed their property, and they had comped our stay for the night and given us credits for two more nights free when we make it back to the area.  Not a bad trade.

The rooms on their property are lovely, as are the bathrooms with gigantic tubs.  Even 6’5″ John could have fit comfortably in that thing.

Their living room is perfect for reading a book in the morning with a cup of coffee.  I know firsthand.

After our lovely stay, we took a bike ride down the Katy Trail (where John proceeded to eat berries straight off the trees.)  He’s weird like that. And of course, no stay would be complete without enjoying the terrace at Mt Pleasant Winery.

Just a quick 24 hour trip, but it proved to us that our marketable skills might be worth something while we’re traveling around the globe.  I’ve already leveraged photography work for free yoga, and John has leveraged his skills for free meals at excellent restaurants.  Add in this latest win with free lodging, and we just might be able to make this trade thing work.

From Missouri we are heading up through Chicago and Milwaukee to visit family.  Expect cute family photos to come!
