Mrs. G’s Boudoir

I’ve received a lot of praise lately for my boudoir style being “classy.”  Apparently, some photographers out there take boudoir to a level just beyond classy (with a few going well beyond the line.)  I’m proud to know that people have noticed the level of professionalism I bring to my boudoir work.  I strive to always make my client feel comfortable and respected, and above all, I respect their right not to have their images plastered all over the internet.  It may keep my online portfolio small, but it keeps my clients feeling comfortable and happy.  Win.

That respect for my client’s wishes is why only one image from Mrs. G’s boudoir session in St. Louis will end up on the blog.  She asked that I not post any images with her face.  Seeing as I think having your face in each of the images is very important (you are not just a collection of body parts), I don’t take many that don’t include some sort of identifying element.  But I did think this shot with the window looked kinda cool.

If you’re looking for some classy boudoir shots yourself, give me a call.  Have a great weekend!

I agree, you have a very classy way of catching sexy. I cant wait to have you shoot another boudoir shoot of me.

Meet Baby Lucas

Meet Lucas.  He’s the newest addition to this family.  He’s tiny.  Teeny tiny.  Technically, he was right at 4 weeks old for this shoot, but since he decided to arrive four weeks early, he’s still a teeny tiny adorable little guy.  So small that he barely fit in the newborn-sized onesies his mom and dad busted out for the shoot.  Smalltinyadorableness.  (Yes, it’s a word.  I just invented it.)

Perhaps you’ll remember the newborn photos of Lucas’ older brother, Noah.  Such cute kids in this family!  Thank you so much to Sarah and Kevin for inviting me into their home to (once again) screw up all the furniture in the living room.  Seriously, you should have seen the room after I finished up – furniture had been moved all over the place in the interest of finding good light.  On the plus side, they did find all of the toys and random kitchen items that two-year-old Noah had hidden under the sofa.  Oh, and they got some great portraits out of it, too :)

Happy Thursday!

[...] you’ve read my blog before, you know this family and all of its adorableness (particularly baby Lucas’s newborn shoot just a few months ago.)  I was so thrilled to see them all again last week when we spent an evening [...]

These are unbelievable! Tracy, you did an awesome job of capturing Lucas. I cannot wait to see the rest of them. It will be so hard to decide which ones to get! He just could not be any cuter or sweeter. Kevin and Sarah, you sure create beautiful babies!

Patrick, Stacey and Thatcher

A rainy March day in St. Louis – what is a three-year-old boy to do?

Stomp through puddles, build a fort in the dining room, and bake cookies.  But of course.  Don’t forget to thoroughly sample the oatmeal cookie dough, though.  Just to be sure it’s tasty :)

I always love photographing this family when I’m back in St. Louis (and not just because there are baked goods involved :) )  Thanks for spending a stormy Saturday morning with me!

How Many Hours of Wedding Coverage Do I Need?

This might be the most popular question I get from couples planning their weddings, particularly for my hourly based packages.  How are you to know how long you’ll want your photographer?  Here’s a simple breakdown.

Getting Ready If you want photos of getting ready, budget for an hour of coverage just for this.  That usually gives me time to catch the end of hair and makeup, grab some shots of the dress and jewelry details, and capture the moment of the bride getting dressed.  Usually the guys are getting ready simultaneously, and my second photographer can be with them to capture the tying of ties and folding of pocket squares as well.

Ceremony For those who don’t want any getting ready photos, I like to arrive at the ceremony 30 minutes before you’ll be walking down the aisle.  This gives me ample time to get my equipment set up, make decisions on how and where I’ll shoot the ceremony, and chat with the venue coordinator about any rules they have.  If you choose to do a First Look and have your portraits taken before the ceremony, I still recommend being at the ceremony site and finished with photos 30 minutes before the ceremony start time.  This allows a few minutes of last minute primping and insures you won’t be seen by guests that arrive early.  Don’t forget to add in the time for the full ceremony and receiving line (if you are having one.)

Bride and Groom Portraits Plan for at least 30 minutes of portraits just of the two of you. This holds true whether you choose to do photos before the ceremony or wait until after. View full post »

Jenny + John – Married! (Part Two)

After their ceremony at Trinity United Methodist Church, John and Jenny walked to their reception at The Pinnacle Club at the Grand Hyatt.  Upon their entrance, John’s family serenaded the couple with a rendition of “L-O-V-E”, accompanied by grandma on the piano.  Adorable.  The rest of the night was filled with celebration – and oh so much dancing.  So much dancing that John and Jenny were grateful for a little fresh air as we stepped outside for a few minutes for some nighttime photos.  The rain had passed, the city lights twinkled brightly, and the steam rose out of the street in huge waves.  Photographer heaven :)

Congratulations John and Jenny!  I hope you enjoyed your mini-moon in Beaver Creek, and wish you all the best for your lives back in Washington D.C.
