Sean + Erica + Mackenzie

Mackenzie is 6 years old, which apparently is when the model gene kicks in.  I didn’t know that.  But let me tell you, this girl makes some sassy faces.  And she knew precisely how she wanted to pose for many of the photos (I discovered that one of my poses was “lame”, so that one didn’t make the cut.)  Super cute – especially with that little parasol :)  This was the first in a series of shoots from my time spent last week in St. Louis.  It was hot, sticky, and awful most of the time, so I am thankful for everyone who braved the heat to have their photos taken.

Despite the lack of blog posts lately, there is a lot going on around here.  I have several shoots to share over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Sean + Katie + Morgan

Meet my (inherited) nieces and nephew.  We spent most of last week visiting John’s family in Wisconsin, and I finally got the chance to photograph these little cuties.  Twins Morgan and Katie are nearly 3 years old, and Sean just turned six.  They were far more interested in being tickled and chased by John and I than in having their photo taken, but I managed to snap a few cute ones of them before transitioning into play mode.  Then we spent most of the time creating sidewalk chalk art, playing on the swingset, and kicking the soccer ball around.  An afternoon in Milwaukee well spent.

Happy Wednesday!

They are fantastic picture, now the hard part is deciding which one an how big!!

Olivia + Blake

16th Street Mall is full of oddballs.  Anytime I shoot on 16th Street, someone has something interesting (or largely inappropriate) to say.  Apparently, this is only magnified on Friday evenings.

Since Olivia and Blake are night owls, we decided to shoot half of their session after sunset.  As the sun went down, the drunks came out – and the comments intensified.  Poor Olivia received the majority of the uncomfortable commentary, but she handled it like a pro and kept on posing for the camera.  You have to keep a sense of humor if you want your photos taken downtown, that’s for sure :)

Many thanks to Olivia and Blake for a fun Friday night shoot, and to my fabulous new assistant for holding the lights for me after dark!

Is it weird that Im commenting on my own photos. lol I just wanted to say Thank you again and again. This was fun. Im definitly not a professional when it comes to posing but a few of these came out amazing and working with you is so fun. Blake said he was really impressed with your professionalism and could tell that you have a passion for photography and you really know your stuff. Im hooked and love getting my pictures taken by you and now Blake is hooked too. Cant wait for the next one. :)

Becky + James – Engaged!

Could someone tell Denver that it’s May?  We barely eeked out warm enough weather for Becky and James’ engagement photos on Sunday at Commons Park.  They brought their little pup Lola along for some photos, and the poor thing was shivering in the cold.  Good thing she had a sweater to put on once her photos were finished!

Becky and James are getting married this October at the Magnolia Hotel in Downtown Denver.  It’s the same venue where John and I were married last November – in fact, that’s how Becky found me.  After googling around for the Magnolia, she stumbled upon my wedding photos and my website.  I’m thrilled to be shooting their wedding this fall – now that I know all the ins and outs of the Magnolia, it will be so much fun to shoot there.  Plus I know they’ll have great vegetarian food :)  See you in October guys!

Nichole + Brandon – Wish Upon A Wedding

When the Colorado chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding formed, I jumped at the chance to become a Wish Granter.  For those of us in the wedding industry, this organization provides the opportunity to use our highly specific skills for something greater than just a paycheck.  If you are not familiar with the Wish Upon a Wedding organization, their mission statement, as taken from their website, is below:

“Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. Our organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.”

This last weekend, the chapter granted their second wish here in Colorado, and I was honored to be a part of it.  Whirlwind wedding planning began for this event in February, commencing this past Saturday as Nichole and Brandon were married in front of 70 of their friends and family and a splendid view at Lionscrest Manor.  You can read more about this couple’s story HERE.

Other vendors who donated their time and services included A Beautiful Wedding , Ivy Lane FloralSlice Cake Studio, Complete Music, Lupher Arts Videography, The Food Guy, Beauty on Location by Liz, Denver Tux, Bailey Doehler Design, Nina’s Jewelry, and Lyric Ensemble.

Everyone involved did a specatacular job.  I sincerely hope that Nichole and Brandon had the dream wedding they envisioned.  If you know someone who could benefit from Wish Upon a Wedding’s help, or are interested in becoming a Wish Granter, you can find more information here.

Congratulations Nichole and Brandon!
