Questions Your Parents Want Answered

Regardless of who is doing majority of the wedding planning, parents will always have a different set of questions than the bride and groom.  In case it’s helpful, here’s an FAQ of what your parents might want to know.

Do you take family portraits at the wedding? Of course.  While majority of my style involves capturing moments, I insist on taking 20 minutes or so for family portraits.  It’s important to document your family history, and formal photos are the way to do it.  I will take any family photos requested as long as there is ample time allotted to do so.

Will you take photos of the guests? A wedding isn’t just about the bride and groom, it’s also about the people surrounding and supporting them.  I do my best to document the guests at both the ceremony and the reception, so that the photos reflect the entirety of the event – not just the couple.  Most of this is done by taking candid style photos, so if you’d like photos of guests grouped together please ask.

How do I know you’ll show up at our wedding? This is my profession, and I take it seriously.  If I didn’t show up at weddings when I said I would, I couldn’t be in business.  I’m happy to provide references of past happy clients if you want evidence – just ask!

How long have you been in business? I have been shooting weddings professionally for over five years.  This is my full-time job.

What happens if you get sick? I have a huge network of photographers whose work I like and professionalism I trust.  If something happens to me, I can call upon one of my colleagues to fill in and make sure the wedding is photographed beautifully.  You will still pay the contracted price we have agreed upon, regardless of that photographer’s rates.

What happens if we have to cancel? My cancellation policy is as follows: Deposits are non-refundable, but they are transferrable if you change your date and I am able to make it work.  Should you cancel the wedding prior to making your final payment (two weeks before the event date) you will forfeit the deposit.  Should you cancel the event within that two week period, after my final payment has been made, that payment is nonrefundable as well.

When will we get to see the photos? I’ll send a series of emails to the bride and groom with an online slideshow and access to their online proofing within a week after the wedding.  How long it takes them to forward that on to friends and family is up to them :)

How do we get prints and albums? Sometimes the bride and groom like to take care of this themselves, but you can always contact me directly to purchase prints and albums of your own.  I’m happy to work directly with you to get the products you are looking for.
