It was an honor to photograph Danielle’s bat mitzvah weekend earlier this month. I photographed her older sister Rebecca’s bat mitzvah in June of 2012, and it was a pleasure to be invited back for another event with this family. Below are just a small selection of the many photos from the three days of ceremonies and parties. It’s so enjoyable to be at an event full of familiar faces.
The festivities began on Thursday morning with somewhat of a final practice-run of Danielle’s reading. The official ceremony took place Saturday morning, during which photography was not allowed because of Shabbat.
The first opportunity for photos on Saturday evening was during the candlelit ceremony Havdalah, which signifies the end of Shabbat. Then the party truly began! A little Horah and Hava Nagila to get things started. The whole family had a turn – below is Danielle’s dad Jason and older sister Rebecca. And of course mom got a turn, too!A crowd full of joyful dancers.
The night ended with Danielle joining the band for a rousing version of “We Are Family.”She rocked it, of course, and her family could not have been more proud.
